Here Summer Summer

7 More Days....

Seven more days until my summer freedom/vacation begins.  I am ready.  Verrry ready.  This has been a great school year, I have enjoyed teaching my students this year, but I am looking forward to sweet freedom.  Here is my summer To Do List:

  1. Clean out my Yukon.  I mean really clean it.  It is a hot mess and I dread this.  But I WILL clean it this summer.
  2. Organize photos and put in albums.  (Gotta buy the albums first.)  I spent several days during the school year uploading photos and ordering them online.  Now it's time to date them on the back and put them in albums.  This is going to be a big and confusing job since the last time I have done this is in 2009.  Not kidding.
  3. Organize the attic.  Sounds crazy and this is something that my hubby used to do twice a year (can you say OCD?) but now it is my turn.  I have plastic tubs of things of my daughters' and said things need to be organized.
  4. Go to numerous softball games.  Up next: Birmingham, AL and ending with Gulfport, MS.  Can't wait!  And I'm not being sarcastic.  Nothing I like better than watching my girl play softball.  Makes me HaPpY!
  5. Possibly paint oldest daughter's bedroom furniture.  It is cherry wood that has taken a beating from said daughter.  Nothing like removing your nail polish with a cotton ball and laying that nail-polish-remover-soaked cotton ball on your night stand.  Doesn't make for a pretty finish.  Thinking about painting it black with maybe hombre grey drawers.  If I spend hours sanding and painting her furniture will this make her not put nail-polish-remover-soaked cotton balls on it???
  6. Watch a lot of Netflix.  I'm currently on Lost (Season 3).  After finishing Desperate Housewives.  I have mixed emotions with watching an entire series on Netflix.  Yes, it's very convenient.  Yes, no commericials.  Yes, you can watch an entire season of a show in a couple of weeks.  BUT.....it is so sad watching that last show knowing that you have actually watched EVERY show and there will be no more.  When watching shows live on TV there is a possibility that you missed one and can see a fresh new show sometime in reruns (which used to happen with Friends, but I think I have seen every last one of them now).  But with Netflix.  NOPE.  No more.  Ever.
  7. Last but not least on my list.  Relax.  Relax.  Relax.  To get geared up for next year's group of students.
Ready for summer.  Bring it.

Childhood Memories...Gone

Childhood memories......Well mine are gone.  Well not the memories, just the momentos.  Here's the story:  My parents lived in the same house for almost 40 years.  My dad saw a house for sale, looked at it, bought it, then told my mom "I bought a house."  Yep.  He did that.  Needless to say that moving after 40 years in the same house meant some purging.  So helping my mother clean out the attic became a walk down memory lane.  I found my old baby clothes, dolls, Major Morgan, just to name a few old toys.  So I put them in a trash bag to bring to my house for my daughters to see.  In the mean time......before I could show my darling daughters and spend time remembering my childhood...my husband mistook them for trash (even though I placed them in an "obvious this is not trash" spot in our garage. So all my childhood momentos=GONE.  Yes I cried.  Just to have a record of some of the items I will never see again, here are some stock photos of my thrown away items. :(

What DID survive, no thanks to hubby, was my Baby Beth.  Luckily I did not stuff her in the trashbag and brought her inside to clean her up.

I'm old.

Two days ago my oldest daughter turned 19.  Wow-19.  It really makes me feel old.  It really feels like I should be 19 and not have a daughter that is!  I am proud of the beautiful young lady she has become.  She is just finishing her first year of college and has really made me proud.  I am impressed with her studying habits and her grades for this first year.  Especially when some of her friends have flunked a class (or 2.)  Here she is with my other daugther Mallorie.  Love them! :)

Kindle Tip

I absolutely lurv my Kindle!  It goes with me everywhere. And I mean everywhere! I read on it, watch Netflix on it, stalk on Facebook on it, stalk my children on Facebook on it, and of course pin things on Pinterest on it.  Speaking of Pinterest....recipes galore.  I have tried to start cooking at home more and not drive through for fast food (aka unhealthy food) so in comes my Pinterest recipes that I have pinned.

I usually spend several minutes trying to find the pinned recipe I have in mind (that I went to the trouble of buying ingredients for) so I have come up with an easier way.  I copy and paste the recipe into a Word document (from my computer not my Kindle) then I email it to my Kindle!!! Wow.  I know.

The recipe magically appears on my Kindle and will forever be there.  Easy peasy to find. :)  And your'e welcome.

(I blurred my email address from the picture)

You kindle has its own e-mail address.  If you do now know yours, you can find it under Manage My Kindle on Amazon.
